Synopsis

Available to editors and agents.

In 1905, unwed mother Danika Czarnecki becomes Detroit’s most popular nightclub singer, Stella Black. Her sudden good fortune turns bad when she witnesses a murder at the club and discovers the boss has another shady business just beneath the stage. When her fame comes to the attention of her former lover, now a respected anti-alcohol doctor, he’s shocked to discover he has a son and dismayed by her champagne-fueled bad behavior. Fame and fast living give the newspapers plenty of fodder while she tries to curb her addictions in order to keep her beloved son. However, Danika is not that poor, immigrant girl anymore. If only she can get a grip on her bad habits, the incomparable Mrs. Black will prove she’s more than just a stage-persona.
